After dark, the books come out to play

If you like books – real books – you may love this wonderful beautiful lovely short film. It’s about what books do when there’s nobody looking. (I saw it at Blue Milk.)

The shop is  Type bookstore in Toronto. Grayson Matthews  composed the music. Click on the link in the video for more details.

  1. I loved it. I think I saw it on Broadsheet during the week.

  2. We are AVID readers – so much so, in fact, we haven’t owned a television for almost 32 years. Our adult son grew up without a television.

Books are our friends – that’s why THIS video was especially wonderful! I loved it and my husband did too.

  3. I just love a good book party!

  4. I used to deal in and appraise rare books so I am an old book worm. We have such a book shop in our small village but as the proprietor says, the day will soon come when a bookstore you walk in and browse that is this size will no longer be economically feasible. They are now running it for the joy it brings them and their customers. I do not want to live in a world in which there are no longer small book stores in which local meet and discuss and find something to read oft times by serendipity. Can’t do that on So glad to be back here.

So glad to have you back.
And interesting to hear about another aspect of your varied past.
I feel the same re the treasure troves that are book shops.

  5. You have spoilt my sleep for me. I will now have to stay up with that tune in my head and wait for my books to do what these do.

      That will never do.
It’s like with Santa – nothing happens unless you close your eyes and go to sleep like a good child.

  7. Very good. Of course what it doesn’t include is all the conversations the books have with each other during the night. Jane Eyre chatting to Moby Dick, Heathcliff chatting to Holly Golightly….

  8. This made my day, so joyful. I call it “Books of Life.”

    Blessings – Maxi
