Some things are bad.
And some things are just weird.
(The Good, the Bad and the Ugly came to mind first – but who’d have guessed that there’s actually a film called The Good, The Bad and the Weird? Click on the pic.)
But getting back to the point. Look at this short film. There’s a clam, but there’s no moral message. It’s just weird.
I was braced for something icky at the end.
that is just repulsively bizarre; maybe message is everything in the world has a purpose; notice, it didn’t take a second helping!
Good point about the second helping.
Was that sugar, salt or blow ?
If it was baking powder that clam is a gonner.
That would not encourage me to eat clams.
They might eat you first.
Only one word comes to mind for me: Yuck!
What a coincidence. Me too.
It’s a pity Hitchcock did not see that clip, just think of the potential blockbuster that the film world missed!
I could see it as a Japanese B-movie – Godzilla versus The Clam.
Okay, there is no moral to the story. But what is the story?
Who said anything about a story? I’m on my holidays.
Your clam, well not your clam by ownership, is a quahog (Mercenaria mercenaria). I’ve dug and dived for them on the shore of Bae Saint Marie along the French Shore off the Bay Fundy as the tide recedes. Yes I have done the circle of sea salt trick with them. It can takes hours of waiting. And is usual over in a split second. The quahog’s flying tongue scoops the salt with such velocity, the closed clam will spin for 30 seconds to a minute. The quahog in the video was lazy bugger. Many a kitchen party has broken out, as all one needs is beer, a quahog, salt and being bored silly. There has to be a moral in there somewhere.
wow; that was informative; i used to hear of people on Cape Cod unting for quahogs.
Indeed – a very high class of informed visitor to this blog!
Quahog seems an aptly piggy name for such a big-tongued greedy clam.
What the … where’s the pearl?
Blessings – Maxi
The pearl?
That’s you, dear reader.
These clams know all about hot licks.
If you trace the family tree of any famous lead guitarist, you’ll usually find a mixed Quahog-human relationship somewhere in the background. Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Klemm McGuinness – all part clam.
