Hello and welcome. The Obituarist is a story by Paul A. Waters. (That’s me.)
Dead people are the safest story around. They can’t answer back.
But if you follow in death’s footsteps, it can be dangerous to get too close.
When a war hero dies suddenly, a struggling journalist finds himself in the right place at the right time to make his own reputation. Dead old soldiers make for wonderful obituaries – their lives so much more vivid and action-packed than our own humdrum existence.
For an obituary writer, they’re a welcome relief from boring men in grey suits and large-breasted Z-list “celebrities”. But how can an obituarist meet his deadlines when death moves so slowly?
It’s not what you think.
Brace yourself for handlebar moustaches, stiff drinks, hyphenated surnames, greed, treachery and, of course, death. With a twist.
The Obituarist is available for download from Amazon and for Kindle here That was the UK Amazon site.
If you want the US site, Amazon.com – that’s here. It’s also on other Amazon sites, just have a search.
And via Smashwords whatever country you’re in – for every other device, pc or mac here.
What readers and reviewers say:

“I was hooked from the first page.” Andy in Hungerford.
“Colourful… dramatic. It includes a line up of WWII RAF characters ranging from stiff upper lip to ginger pubic hair. A thoroughly enjoyable read.” Pól Ó Duibhir in Dublin.
“Mordant, funny, dark, teasing and ironic.” MakinMovies.net
“Beautifully written. A tale both light and dark with an excellent twist.” Helen in Devon.
“Old soldiers never die? You’ve got to read this! Swiftly spiralling plot, deftly humorous style, with wry sidelong glances at contemporary media (and, of course by implication, we who consume it!)… Will keep you reading and smiling to yourself from the first line to the last.” – BlackInk.

The Obituarist is a sizzling tale filled with humor, mystery and suspense. Bunty and the obit writer connect on every level until … human nature steps in and crashes the party.
The men become friendly enemies, each serve their own best interest. In the end “turn about is fair play” wins the day.
A fabulous story, Paul. My eyes were glued to every word, from the first line until The End.
